Q.1 Who can apply for INK Makers 2015?

INK Makers 2015 is open ONLY to undergraduate students at Manipal university.

Q.3 When is Make-a-thon 2.0?

The Make-a-thon 2.0 will be held on January 29th & 30th, 2016. 

Q.4 Where is the venue of Make-a-thon 2.0?

At Manipal University, 1st floor Faculty Of Architecture Manipal Campus.

Q.5 When is last date to apply for Make-a-thon 2.0?

Registration link will be open till January 28th 2016.

Q.6 What is the theme for Make-a-thon 2.0?

Make-a-thon 2.0 will have 2 themes. Participating teams can choose one option from the below 2 themes.

  • Build to Sell
  • Make Manipal a better place

Q.7 Is there a registration fee for Make-a-thon 2.0?

No, there is no registration fee. Please register before January 28th, 2016 for Make-a-thon 2.0. Register here http://inktalks.com/makers/apply

Q.8 How many teams can participate in Make-a-thon 2.0?

Only the first 100 teams to apply online can participate. Teams applying later will be placed on a waiting list.

Q.9 How big can my team be?

Teams can be anywhere from one to four members. Team Leader should apply online to participate in the event. The event is free and also includes food and snacks.

Q.10 As an applicant is there a restriction on the department/discipline to apply?

No, teams can be from any department to participate.

Q.11 What happens in a Make-a-thon, what should I build?

You are free to build anything which makes life simpler & cooler, it need not necessarily be a physical product. We are looking for innovations that help people to the fullest extent, so get creative and build something innovative and unique.

Q.12 Will I receive any kind of mentorship during the Make-a-thon?

Yes, you will receive mentorship during the 30-hour Make-a-thon. For information on Mentors, please refer here. 

Q.13 How much time will I have to complete my project during the make-a-thon?

Teams are free to start planning and ideating their solution as soon as the theme is announced. However, the teams are encouraged to start building their solution on the first day of the INK Makers You will have to showcase the prototype by 30th of January 3 PM to the panel of judges.

Q.14 Who will provide the materials required for building the prototype? 

The participating teams are requested to bring all their necessary materials required to build their prototype to the Make-a-thon. The INK team will reimburse the costs of materials used for building the prototype at the venue after submitting all the original bills & receipts. A maximum of Rs.1,000 will be reimbursed per team.

Q.15 When was the first Make-a-thon held?

The first Make-a-thon was held on September 26th & 27th, 2015 

Q.16 How many make-a thon’s will be held? 

There will be 2 make-a-thons in-between July 2015 – Feb 2016 where, the shortlisted teams from the 2 make-a-thons will get to showcase their prototype during the INK Makers finale in the 1st week of March 2016.

Q.17 Would I receive any mentorship during the Make-a thon?

Yes, there will be mentors guiding the students during the Make-a-thon.

Q.18 How many teams are shortlisted from each Make-a-thon?

7 teams were selected from each Make-a-thon 1.0

3 teams will be selected from Make-a- thon 2.0

Q.19 What do the shortlisted teams of the Make-a-thon 2.0 take back?

The teams are connected with the mentors in the INK Community where they can take back immense learning and in-depth mentorship from the INK community. Winners of first Make-a-thon 2.0 will get a free pass for INK Live 2016 in Goa.( travel and accommodation NOT included).

Apart from that, each team will receive a cash prize of Rs. 10,000 to further build on the prototypes and get it market ready.
Shortlisted teams get to participate in INK Makers 2015 Finale, where they could win total cash prize worth Rs 6,00,000.

Q.20. What is the judging criteria for INK Makers 2015, make-a-thon?

Judging criteria will be on the following:

  • Novelty of the idea
  • Gravity of the problem solving
  • Feasibility/Workability of the idea
  • Final Outcome (Presentation)

Q.21 Who owns the intellectual property generated?

All teams retain full ownership of what they create at INK Makers 2015.

Q.22 What happens in the INK Makers finale?

Winners of Make-a thon’s, will pitch their idea to a panel of judges. Judges and subject matter experts from various industry will evaluate the projects based on level of completion, novelty of the idea, and how well it adheres to the theme(s) of the make-a-thon.

INK Makers will culminate with world visionaries, entrepreneurs, artists, technologists & more, who gather under one roof for a cross-pollination of ideas. 

Q.23 What do the winners of INK Makers Finale receive?

The winners of the INK Makers would get exciting cash benefits to take their prototype to market with total cash prizes of Rs.6 Lakh. 

Prizes:

  • Winners: Rs.3,00,000/-
  • 1st Runner up: Rs.2,00,000/-
  • 2nd Runner up: Rs.1,00,000/-
