What is INK’s association with TED?

The INK Conference is organized and run independently from TED. TED will only provide strategic advice and a select few talks from the INK Conference will be featured on TED.com following the same editorial process and rigor as any other TED talk. INK is grateful for its relationship with TED.

What is the fee for the conference?

Registration Fee – Rs 50,000 (for Indian residents), $1000 (for non-residents).

YPO members only: The YPO members’ fee can be found on the YPO registration page. Contact us if you have any questions.

What does the attendee registration fee cover?

The fee covers registration, taxes, and lunch and dinner from Dec 6th through the 9th afternoon.

What do you recommend for accommodation?

We can provide you with a list of hotels where you can book at a special INK rate after you have registered for the conference.

What is the latest date I can register for the conference?

Since the seats are limited, it is recommended that you register as soon as possible.

Do I automatically get in after I apply?

The INK Conference application is not a typical conference registration form. We’re looking for people who are likely, in our judgment, to be a strong contributor to the INK community and/or the ideas discussed at INK and projects that come out of the conference.

Tips for applying to attend the INK Conference.

Since we curate our attendees, we need to match your profile with other attendees to make this conference as meaningful to you as to our other attendees. Once you have completed the on-line application process, we will review it and email you your confirmation.

Before you apply, here are a few things to know:

Set aside an uninterrupted hour to fill out the form. The questions touch on your goals, accomplishments and connection to your community.

We recommend you look at the application form first, then spend time offline composing your answers. Keep an offline copy, in case of a broken connection or other error. The INK Conference cannot be responsible for text that gets lost.

Pay special attention to your favorite websites and personal reference. We follow up on these.

A few tech tips:

You may wish to clear your browser cache before and after submitting your application — especially if you are using a shared computer.

Do keep an offline copy of all your responses. Take a screen capture of the application before you hit Submit, or email it to yourself if your browser allows this.

How do I make a change and/or addition to my registration information?

Email changes to Nandini@inktalks.com.

What is your cancellation policy?

Cancellations after Oct 1, 2012, are non-refundable. If cancelled before Oct 1, 2012, registration fees will be refunded partially (80 per cent of the fee). All cancellations must be made in writing via e-mail to Nandini@inktalks.com.

If for some reason you cannot attend the conference, your best option is to transfer your membership. You can request for a substitution/transfer after Oct 1, 2012, but only if you notify us before Nov 1, 2012. The decision to allow the transfer of application is solely at our discretion.

Transfers for Conference Members

Memberships are approved for specific individuals and may not be transferred unless we receive full details of the proposed Transfer in writing (email us at Nandini@inktalks.com) before Nov 1, 2012, and the proposed Transferee must be someone as equally able to contribute to the community as the Transferor. In the case of corporate transfers, the Transferee will need to be of equivalent seniority or higher.

I require special physical, visual, hearing assistance to participate in the conference. Whom do I notify?

Please mail all your special requests to Nandini@inktalks.com.

What is the dress code for attendees?

We would love you to dress smartly. Not that we endorse any designer label! Men can pack comfortable trousers, jeans, shirts and tees. A jacket would come in handy since the mercury can dip to a minimum of three degrees centigrade during December in Jaipur. Besides comfortable day wear, ladies, do not forget to pack in the pretty black dress or the silk shawl for all the exciting evening events planned during the conference. For the three evenings, you will want to dress to impress!

What is the weather like at Bangalore? Any packing tips?

Jaipur is cold in December. The minimum temperature can be as low as three degrees centigrade. However, the days are bright and sunny. The convention facility is air-conditioned and you may wish to carry a light jacket or a sweater during the day. Evenings call for something warmer.

Packing tips: Don’t forget your sunglasses, business cards (a lot of them), small umbrella (just in case), running gear (optional). You can add your favorite gizmos, photos and other objects that are special to you and might intrigue other INK attendees or start a conversation. Consider leaving behind as many of your electronic distractions as possible. The more uncluttered you come, the more you’ll get out of the event.
